The other day, as I was washing dishes at the kitchen sink. I was looking out the window, as I often do, and noticed something moving across the street. It was small, black and wandering back and forth in the dirt. As I squinted to see what it was, I was amazed to discover that we have a chicken in our neighborhood! (read more)

I was really bummed out because I tried reserving it from everywhere I could think of, only to be told they had maxed out their pre-orders. However, yesterday, a coworker of mine told me that her husband called Best Buy and they said they'd be getting a few in stock. So, we left work at 9:30 this morning, got there and were told that they only had TWELVE in stock and had formed a line. Thankfully, we were 6th and 7th in line so only after a couple of seconds, I realized I was guaranteed to get one. I watched as several people approached the store, only to turn and walk away sadly, their hopes of getting a Wii Fit shattered. And now, I have Wii Fit! I'm really excited about this.

In other news, both Hillary & I survived layoffs at work today. This morning, every department scheduled a mysterious meeting at 9:00 to announce that in agreement with their goal to cut costs this year, there would be some job cuts today. We all went back to our desks, waited by our phones and and speculated who was being chosen by receiving "the phone call". Those familiar feelings came back (Hillary was laid off when they call center closed in 2003; I was laid off when the Home division was closed in 2005). Neither of us lost our job this time, praise God and hopefully we will not have to go through this again anytime soon. |

What was originally supposed to have been approximately 1-2 months only turned out to be about one week. My in-laws moved out today to an apartment of their own! Our house is now back to normal. |
